Jana started out early, with family members encouraging her to play piano. She studied classical piano starting in second grade. In elementary school she played violin, then switched to trumpet for junior and high school, participating in band, orchestra and stage band. After moving to Las Vegas, she played keyboards and sang in some short-lived projects.
